Children can make rainbow by themselves. First prepare some sugar, and make different density of sugar water in measuring cups, then drop food colouring into the cups. Then using the pipette to suck up different color liquid and drop it into the tube to make rainbow.

According to chemical knowledge: the higher density of the liquid, the heavier it is.
