BFTA is an NGO social enterprise that specializes in Palestinian home decor and gift products handcrafted by artisans in the West Bank and Gaza. Our support begins with marketing their products and extends to assisting them with product development issues.
Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans was established to meet artisans' basic needs for survival. The unstable political situation in Palestine horribly impacted artisans' work since it solely depends on tourism. Such a political situation, without a doubt, discourages tourists from visiting the country (thus dropping artisans' sales).
The talents of Palestinian handicraft workers go unseen and unmarketed, and their efforts go to waste. For that reason, BFTA was started. As a fair trade organization, BFTA finds international market outlets through which to market and sell artisans' products.
Bethlehem Fair Trade Artisans works with marginalized producers, including Family-owned olivewood workshops, Women working with embroidery, basket weaving, and jewelry making, and disabled groups working with felt wool, recycled materials, and olive wood production. BFTA specializes in wood, ceramic, glass, wool, pottery, leather, and embroidery.
